Haute hair isn’t hard to achieve. With the right cut, color, products and tools, you too, can have hair that is lustrous and envied.

Cut

The right cut depends on your face shape and personality. Figure out your face shape by outlining your face on a mirror with lipstick. It will become clear what kind of shape you have.

Heart: You and Naomi Campbell have something in common! Heart shapes are wider on top and narrower on bottom. You want to balance the face, so try a chin length bob or layers that start at the chin. By doing so, you’ll bring more fullness to the chin area, proportioning your face.

Round: Try parting your hair to the side, making the face look less full. Adding height at the crown can also slenderize the face. Take a cue from Drew Barrymore, another rounded face gal, and keep hair longer than the chin. If you want to be more daring, go for a super short cut, but make sure it’s swept back, away from the face. The key is to not frame the face, because it will make it look fuller.

Square:  The sexy Demi Moore knows how to work the strong angles of her square face. Adding wispy bangs and layers around the face can soften hard angle of square face shapes. Waves and curls also have a softening effect on the face. Short to medium length hair are ideal for square faces.

Oval: Well, you have the ideal face shape! You can wear almost any cut or style. Take a cue from Tyra Banks and try a variety of styles! Avoid heavy bangs and wearing the hair around the face too much. Show off that sexy shape by wearing hair away from the face.

Color

Color can be tricky. Should you go lighter or darker? How much of a change should you make? Here are some tips to make it a little less scary.

Brown: works for women who have brown hair already. If you want to go richer or deeper, chocolate is a good option for you. Choose brown if you don’t want a lot of maintenance involved.  If your hair is dull, brown is also a great option, as it reflects light and makes the hair shine.

Red: for women who have pink undertones in their skin. If you are outgoing and like getting attention, red is also a great option for you! Red is for women who want to stand out. Your hair has to be in good condition, as damaged hair will not hold on to red dye. Red also involves A LOT of maintenance, so be prepared to invest the time.

Blonde: works for women who were blonde as a child. If you don’t mind a sexy bombshell image, blonde is also a good choice for you. Blondes are for women who have the time and money for maintenance (root touch-ups, highlights). If you are planning to go more than 2 shades lighter than your current hair color, go to a professional!

Follow the above tips and you will see how easily your look can be transformed! With the right cut and color, you can take years and pounds off your Just Glam face!

Recently, we took to the web and asked, “What does ‘GLAM’ mean to you?” Since glamour is a universal language with everyone having their own unique definition, we were thrilled to hear people of all backgrounds chime in on this hotly contested topic. Here are several inspired responses to our question:

What does glam mean to me? Glam means grace, elegance, and style without trying. It comes naturally. ;-) -Tawnya Shaw

Showing the world a gorgeous new you with style and a edge of spunk. -Rosalyn Burrise

GLAM….is a word that is a reputation of your own inner self. It shows your own personally style and it is almost like a self expression, but it’s done in a mature, positive, and like a very “diva” kind of way. So that basically sums it up — to be a confident, stylish, positive, graceful, go-getter type of woman….well @ least to me, fashionable and GLAM..morous! -Hakika Schuler

Well, to me it’s more of an attitude. An air of confidence in not only your appearance, but also in interactions with others. It’s being different and proud to be different, wearing a look, be it clothes, shoes, accessories or makeup, that only you could get away with wearing.

It’s the way you walk, talk, smile, be silent, but everything with the knowledge that you look good because you feel good about yourself. You’re you, and you don’t need to compare yourself to others, nor do you feel inferior to them.  That’s pretty much it for me. -Cecile Thalley

G.L.A.M. = Giving (Your) Life Absolute Meaning
…And living a Glamorous Life is not JUST about rocking the latest, hottest fashions, but also incorporating that high standard throughout every important aspect of your Glamorous Life; your relationship with God, strong family ties, career, friendships, love, and playing a positive role in your community! -Patricia Alegria

Glam, to me, means being FABULOUS in who you are and letting the best of you SHINE, inside and out!! -Na’Omi Bull

GLAM means loving yourself enough to spend the time and money to be and look your very best!!! -Dawn Chase

Glam, to me, would mean being beautiful on the inside and out. Being who you are and how God made you. Also having a sense of style of your own. That’s glam to me. -Neka Adams

Today, GLAM means to me the opportunity to reflect upon myself and recognize the positive characteristics, physical attributes and strengths about myself ! In turn, I am fully capable of recognising such qualities of others and promote and encourage the development of a more positive perspective on life simply by starting with self! Basically to change the world one person at a time you must start with self and if we treat and speak positive it will sow onto a multitude!! -Lady Tristane

GLAM, to me, is the sistrepreneur venture of a black woman who travels along the pathway of women like Madame C.J. Walker, and the cosmetic makers of ancient Kemet. From the beginning of the thought, GLAM has been and has come to be cosmetics which adds to the beauty of its wearer. Complimenting many shades, GLAM enhances the final result of any beautiful face.  That’s all for now…

When I look into the mirror, I see the love. Then I feel the love. -Modibo Kambon

Glam to me is taking the time each day to make sure I look presentable. Not like loads of make up. But just a lil’ lip gloss making sure I greet the day looking ready for the world. Embracing my inner beauty as well as my outer shell. Loving me!! I am glamorous in self love and by me displaying that for myself it transfers into my love for others. To me that is glam. When you walk into a room and everyone knows you don’t just look like you have it together your energy exudes completeness. -Mikki Lethridge
